[Waldwick, NJ – August 20, 2020] – The Greater Bergen Realtors® RPAC Committee worked tirelessly this summer to raise RPAC dollars despite all the adversities presented this year due to the Covid-19 pandemic. The RPAC committee had a very exciting year planned out to get members involved and to raise money to meet their 2020 goal of $127,961.00.
That was all put at a screeching halt early March when COVID -19 became a very familiar name to everyone across the globe. Nevertheless, the RPAC committee decided that if they cannot raise money in person; then they will adapt to the new reality and continue to carry on their mission to raise awareness and dollar for the Realtors Political Action Committee (RPAC). As a result, the RPAC committee went full steam ahead and ran their Online Auction throughout the summer, raising over $13,000.00.
Both Co-Chairs, Maritza Aleman, and Angela Ponticelli stated, “In these unprecedented times, the RPAC committee is thinking out of the box and working hard to ensure we keep our membership informed and meet our goals for the year. We would like to thank all those members that have supported, and continue to support, our online auction. To date, we have raised 90% of our goal but we still need your participation please continue to support our online auction."
Thanks to all the RPAC dollars, the state of New Jersey had some major wins, especially during the most critical moments of COVID -19, which included: Creation of Pandemic Unemployment Insurance for independent contractors; Advocacy for a change in state law to allow electronic notary services; working with numerous municipalities to ensure CO inspections are still proceeding and closings can occur; the setting up of webinars with the Small Business Administration and NJ Department of Labor and Workforce Development on the Payroll Protection Program and Unemployment, to name a few.

Contributions to RPAC are not deductible for federal income tax purposes. Contributions are voluntary and are used for political purposes. The amounts indicated are merely guidelines and you may contribute more or less than the suggested amounts provided your contribution is within applicable contribution limits. The National Association of REALTORS® and its state and local associations will not favor or disadvantage any member because of the amount contributed or a decision not to contribute. You may refuse to contribute without reprisal. Unless otherwise required by applicable law, any request for the refund of a contribution must be made within two (2) business days of the date on which you authorize RPAC to charge you for said contribution. Your contribution is split between National RPAC and the State PAC in your state. Contact your State Association or PAC for information about the percentages of your contribution provided to National RPAC and to the State PAC. The National RPAC portion is used to support federal candidates and is charged against your limits under 52 U.S.C. 30116.
