Saddle Brook, NJ – October 5, 2022 – Greater Bergen REALTORS® (GBR) Community Service Committee, in conjunction with the REALTORS® Care Foundation (RCF), and New Jersey REALTORS® Housing Opportunity Foundation volunteered their time and resources for REALTORS® Care Day 2022, on Thursday, September 22nd. Since its inception, REALTORS® Care Day has been a great way for REALTOR® members to give back to their communities through improvements including landscaping, outdoor cleanup, exterior repairs, and safety modifications.
This year, the homeowners who received exterior renovations to their home was the Liwanag Family, from Bergenfield, NJ. The day was a huge success thanks to the seventeen volunteer RCF Trustees, NJ REALTORS® Trustee, Drew Fishman, and GBR affiliate sponsors, Legacy Mortgage, The Title Store, and Mortgage Now. With only a few interruptions by storm clouds and some rain, the dedicated volunteer crew was able to complete multiple renovations including a drainage system, freshly painted front door, driveway repairs, front and back of house landscaping, and cleanup.
Homeowner, Michael Liwanag, and his family were on site all afternoon to watch the transformation of their home take place in just a few short hours. The Liwanag Family was affected by Covid-19 in the past few years where Michael, like so many Americans across the country, saw his job change drastically. Coming out of the pandemic, he found himself having to constantly work overtime and long hours with little time to tend to his home, and his wife was a full-time nurse who worked an opposite schedule. The hard-working family was the perfect fit for REALTORS® Care Day 2022.
“This is a very big blessing to us, and we are so grateful to the hard work of the Care Foundation and everyone who came out to volunteer their time,” said Michael Liwanag. “I’m sure everybody has been recovering from the Covid Pandemic, and we just feel very thankful from the bottom of our hearts for all the help.”
