Greater Bergen REALTORS® Co-Hosts The Third Annual 2024 DEI Real Estate Summit At Newark Liberty International Airport Marriott

Saddle Brook, NJ – June 13, 2024 - The 2024 DEI Real Estate Summit, a two-day regional Diversity, Equity, & Inclusion summit designed to build curiosity and inclusive practices among members of the real estate industry, was held on June 3-4, 2024, at Newark Liberty International Airport Marriott.

The DEI Real Estate Summit is collaboration between the National Association of REALTORS®, New Jersey REALTORS®, Greater Bergen REALTORS® (GBR), Hudson Gateway Association of REALTORS®, New York State Association of REALTORS®, North Central Jersey Association of REALTORS®, and Greater Rochester Association of REALTORS®.

During the multi-day event, attendees had the opportunity to network, learn, and actively engage in a wide range of sessions curated to enhance the overall conference experience, providing valuable insights and facilitating meaningful connections.

Encouraging attendance at such conferences is essential for fostering a culture of diversity, equity, and inclusion within our industry,” stated GBR Board Director, Dalia Flores. The DEI Summit provided a platform for REALTORS® to exchange perspectives, establish a common ground, and ensure that every individual is truly recognized and valued.

The Summit schedule hosted several breakout sessions including “Transforming Real Estate Through Advocacy”, where GBR REALTORS® Care Foundation Trustee, Soo Yu, shared remarks as the 2024 President of AREAA Northern NJ, in conversation with NAHREP, NAREB, and the LGBTQ+ Alliance.

Other sessions included, Unmasking Appraisal Biases: What Agents Need To Know”, “Agent-To-Agent Racism: A True Story”, and “Advancing DEI In An Anti-DEI Climate”, and others. GBR’s 2024 DEI Committee Vice President, Marian Sasson-Albornoz added, All real estate professionals in these sessions benefit from hearing what our community has to say about discrimination, racism and inequity, so we can learn ways to navigate challenges for ourselves and our clients.”

The keynote fireside chat featured President and CEO of TIAA, Thasunda Brown Duckett, and was moderated by Michelle Mills Clement, CEO of Chicago Association of REALTORS®.
