Saddle Brook, NJ — April 28, 2026 — Greater Bergen REALTORS® (GBR) teamed up with Rebuilding Together North Jersey on Saturday, April 25, 2026, in recognition of National Rebuilding Day, a nationwide day of service focused on helping neighbors in need through critical home repairs at no cost. 

Volunteers from Greater Bergen REALTORS® joined members of Rebuilding Together North Jersey to complete repairs and improvements at a home in Garfield. The work was part of National Rebuilding Day; an annual event held on the last Saturday in April. 

Led by Rebuilding Together and its network of nearly 130 affiliates, National Rebuilding Day brings together thousands of volunteers across the country to provide free home repairs for homeowners in need. Projects are centered on improving safety and health, increasing accessibility for seniors and veterans, and strengthening neighborhoods through repairs, modifications, and community upgrades. 

"What we accomplished today goes far beyond construction," said Melanie Arroyo, Marketing Chair, Rebuilding Together North Jersey. "We strengthened neighborhoods and reminded families that they are not alone. It's about neighbors showing up for one another in the most meaningful way.”

Greater Bergen REALTORS® is proud to be part of this effort and give back to the community it serves. With support from the REALTORS® Care Foundation and Greater Bergen REALTORS® as sponsors, along with breakfast courtesy of Kitchen Wise | Closet Wise and lunch donated by Roman Pizza & Restaurant, it was a true community effort. The day kicked off at 8:00 a.m. in Garfield, bringing together a group of dedicated volunteers ready to make a difference. 

“National Rebuilding Day is about giving back to our community, especially to homeowners in need who deserve to feel safe and secure in their homes. Despite the rainy weather, nearly 40 volunteers from the GBR Community Outreach Committee, along with REALTOR® members and affiliates of Greater Bergen REALTORS®, showed up and worked both inside and outside the home without hesitation,” said GBR Community Outreach Chair Mia Forsberg-Villon. “We were also honored by the visit of Bergen County Commissioner Tracy Silna Zur and NJ State Senator Nellie Pou, who came to witness the impact firsthand. Together, we weren’t just repairing a home, we were there to remind a homeowner that they are not alone—that their community stands with them.”
