Sales and Demand Remain Strong This Month
Saddle Brook, NJ — August 25, 2025 — U.S. existing-home sales fell 2.7% from the previous month to a seasonally adjusted annual rate of 3.93 million, according to the National Association of REALTORS® (NAR). Sales were unchanged from one year earlier. Regionally, monthly sales declined in the Midwest, Northeast, and South but rose in the West. Year-over-year, sales decreased in the Northeast and West but increased in the South and Midwest.
Exceeding Economists Expectations With Increasing Sales This June
Saddle Brook – July 29, 2025 - U.S. existing-home sales edged up 0.8% month-over-month to a seasonally adjusted annual rate of 4.03 million units, exceeding economists’ expectations, although sales were down 0.7% year-over-year, according to the National Association of REALTORS® (NAR). On a monthly basis, sales increased in the Midwest, Northeast, and South but decreased in the West.
Home Prices Continue To Edge Up
Saddle Brook, NJ – June 26, 2025 - U.S. existing-home sales dipped 0.5% month-over-month and 2.0% year-over-year to a seasonally adjusted annual rate of 4.00 million units, according to the National Association of REALTORS® (NAR). Sales increased in the Midwest, decreased in the West and Northeast, and were unchanged in the South. Year-over-year, sales were down in every region except the Northeast.
Total Housing Inventory Increases 8.1%
Saddle Brook, NJ – May 25, 2025 - U.S. existing-home sales decreased 5.9% month-over-month and 2.4% year-over-year to a seasonally adjusted annual rate of 4.02 million units, according to the National Association of REALTORS® (NAR), as affordability challenges and economic uncertainty weigh on market activity. Sales were down month-over-month in all four regions, with the West experiencing the largest decline, at 9.4%.
Elevated Home Prices & Higher Interest Rates Continue To Impact Buyer Activity

Despite the drop, sales were up 2% compared to the same period last year, marking the fourth consecutive monthly year-over-year increase.
Housing Demand Continues To Put Upward Pressure On Sales Prices

According to the National Association of REALTORS® (NAR), sales of previously owned homes rose 1.3% month-over-month to a seasonally adjusted annual rate of 3.95 million units, exceeding economists’ expectations and ending the downward trend of recent months.

Higher mortgage rates, along with rising sales prices, have kept many prospective buyers on the sidelines, despite more home choices and less competition for those homes.
Existing Home Sales Exceed Economists' Expectations By Marking Strongest Sales Price Since August 2023
Saddle Brook, NJ – March 22, 2024 – U.S. existing-home sales grew 3.1% month-over-month to a seasonally adjusted annual rate of 4.00 million, exceeding economists’ expectations and marking the strongest sales pace since August 2023, according to the National Association of REALTORS® (NAR). Falling interest rates late last year, coupled with a recent uptick in inventory, helped existing-home sales to climb following last month’s decline, with monthly gains reported in the Midwest, South, and West regions.
