Waldwick, NJ – (November 5, 2020) The Greater Bergen Realtors® Global Business Council was presented with the DIAMOND Global Achievement Program Award by the National Association of Realtors® (NAR) during the Annual Global reception that because of the ongoing pandemic took place virtually during the first week of November. 2020 Chair, Kathleen Houston accepted the award on behalf of the Association. Ms. Houston stated, "It was an Honor to Receive the 2020 NAR Diamond Achievement award on behalf of our Association. Greater Bergen REALTORS® and the 2020 Global Business Council committed to providing quality education and opportunities for Global Business abroad and in the U.S. for six years. This award is a testament to their efforts and dedication to my fellow colleagues within the Association and beyond. I am proud of what we achieved; this year was exceptional. Thank you for the honor!"

The determination was made after the application was reviewed by a 12-person NAR staff review team from various teams across NAR to provide a wide range of input and perspective to each of the applications.

This year, that group has determined that the Greater Bergen Realtors® Global Business council rose above the competition and has set the bar for 2020. The Council continued to provide its members with the highest level of service by giving them the tools, education, and networking they need to handle international real estate. They continued to work hard, despite the challenges of 2020 to connect with the global community in their market area and beyond. The Greater Bergen REALTORS® Global Business council is now 1 of the 11 global councils presented with this prestigious award.

2020 President Gene Amsel said, "Congratulations to the Greater Bergen REALTORS® Global Business Council for achieving their 6th consecutive NAR Platinum award and receiving the coveted Diamond award for 2020. The Diamond award's achievement truly stands out as we are one of the two organizations in the country that received the award this year. The Global Business Council has committed itself to excellence and maintained discipline through these challenging and unforeseen times brought on by the pandemic.  As Greater Bergen REALTORS®, we would not be where we are today without our members' dedication. A special thank you to the 2020 Chair Kathleen Houston and Vice-Chair Norma Bonilla; Thank you to all committee members and the Greater Bergen staff liaison for their hard work; It has truly paid off and raised the bar for all of us."

This prestigious award represents the dedication of the membership and staff alike. The Council worked diligently and was awarded the Platinum Achievement Award for five consecutive years from 2015-2019. In 2014 and 2013, they were awarded the Gold Global Achievement award.

The Global Business Council had a monumental year despite all the chaos and uncertainty due to the ongoing pandemic. The Council kicked off 2020 by hosting their staple Lunar New Year celebration along with AREAA North Jersey in February. Shortly after, due to the state shutdown, all events were put on halt. The Global Council, however,  did not skip a bit; they quickly adapted to the new normal. Finding the silver lining in the situation, the global business council set forth to build relationships with countries and other states through the zoom platform. As a result, they forged a new partnership with Costa Rica and are looking forward to signing their Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with Cámara Costarricense de Corredores de Bienes Raices and Costa Rica Global Association of Real Estate. Additionally, they participated in the first inbound/outbound trade mission with Greater Tampa Realtors® and the Dominican Republic. Finally, they participated in the 2020 Global Summit, which encompassed seven associations of New York and New Jersey.

"The recognition of the 2020 Diamond Award, especially in these challenging times, is a testament to our commitment to our members and our global affiliates. We look forward to continuing to form and solidify our relationships, whether it be in person or our new virtual world", Said Vice-Chair Norma Bonilla.
